Weddings in Tavistock over the past 12 months has been somewhere I have been a few times to photograph weddings, the first of which was at Browns Hotel in Tavistock town centre back in December, and the weekend before last I was back at Browns Hotel & Restaurant Devon for another marriage ceremony and this time a separate evening venue, that being the fabulous and grand Tavistock Town Hall, situated in the centre of the town, opposite the church and only a few hundreds meters down the high street from Browns Hotel. I was looking forward to the wedding in particular for two key reasons, firstly the couple, always brilliant when you really get on well and that they were so genuine both with each other and in front of me, built on a foundation of a soggy but very scenic pre shoot we did on the North Cornwall Coast a few weeks before the wedding. The second reason was the challenge of the location and weather.
I knew from the day before when I met the couple for a walk through that the weather was going to be very hit and miss, much the same as many other weddings at the moment with the british summer we are all experiencing, in the South West anyway. So we made plans for both scenarios, however the real challenge was the combination of the volume of the guests (120+) and the small interior space in Browns Hotel, however despite planning the weather turned out more than pleasant in the afternoon and everyone was able to use the outside space at the Hotel in Tavistock, Devon and then make the walk across to the rather large Tavistock Town Hall where space for the large guest list, now growing with evening guests, was no longer an issue.
For me some of the highlights of the day were the guests all walking down Tavistock main high street blocking the traffic, the speeches, in particular the father of the brides speech, and of course the first dance in a room that was built for dancing! I wish the couple all the best and present here a secretion of the pics that tell the main events of the day.. there are another 400+ for the couple.
