Weddings in Falmouth come in all shapes and sizes, its south costal location means that there are many hotels sparked up from tourism, much like Newquay, but more often that not considered to be a little less holiday package market and a little higher up the class ladder, that being said there are a selection of high end hotels in Newquay, as there are lower end ones in Falmouth. Ultimatly Falmouth is less well known to travellers from outside the South West and is therefore a little quieter. Falmouth Bay looks out on to the Channel and opposite is St Mawes and just up the road Penryn, the immediate countryside around the area means that Falmouth can be used for an eye catching, estate or hotel wedding as well as being used for a base for the immediate area. The main routes into Falmouth from Truro & Helston along the A394 present lots of open land, often overlooking large farming landscapes or a little off the main routes towards Helston, some view overlooking the sea.
Venues in the immediate area of Falmouth include the St Michiasl Hotel, Pendenis Castle and The Falmouth Hotel, as well as the oppositions for DIY countryside weddings of the marquee variety, there are many options in this area of Cornwall on the South Coast – not so great for surfing perhaps. Head to north coast if the groomsmen would like a morning surf.
“Falmouth Harbour and Carrick Roads from the largest natural haven in Britain. The port, developed in the 16th century by the Killigrew Family, thrived by becoming a packet station for the Post Office between 1688 and 1852. It is now a major sailing centre with ship repair facilities centred on Falmouth Docks, best viewed from Castle Drive. Ferries to St Mawes, Flushing and along the River Fal to Truro leave from Prince of Wales Pier. The town is noted for its gardens and parks with sub-tropical plants.” – AZ
