Weddings in Bude have a lovely elegance but relaxed feel to them in my experience, using venues such as The Caste, not a large venue, but with access to the beach and the possibilities for pictures suing the Castle itself and the sea and beaches make for some good opportunities. Due to how busy Bude can get in the summer, using a venue like the Castle, which is located almost on the beach means that traffic is one less thing to worry about. Hotels are plenty a little further inland such as The Falcon Hotel.
Bude is located on the North Coast off the Atlantic Highway (A39), just west of Holsworthy on the A3072 and between Kikhampton and Marhamchurch running north to south. Similar to towns like Padstoe, Bude town is set back from the sea front but towards the beach and The Castle (wedding venues) the sea stretches out in front of you across more the handful of sand. Summerlaze beach can be seen from The Castle and at low tide is a very wide and long beach, similar around the corner is Bude Sea Pool. Bude has several churches located near the sea an The Castle, whilst there are many hotels located around the front and and the town. Parking is available both near the Beach and just inland from the Lifeboat station, although during summer months the area becomes busy with tourists.
Bude grew up as an agricultural trading port, serving the surrounding remote rural area, to which it was linked by a 35 mile long Bude Canal built in the 1820’s. Known for its inclined planes instead of locks, the 2 miles to Helebridge survive with pleasant towpath walks. Bude later became a Victorian & Edwardian resort and it remains a popular family seaside attraction. Crooklets Beach is used for surfing. The Castle (now council offices) was built in 1850 by Sir Goldsworthy Gurney, best known for his invention of incandescent lighting and the steam powered road coach” -AZ
