Before I start rambling on I just wanted to make a note of a recent website I have been made aware of that is used to search for wedding photographers across the UK. I will soon be listing myself on the site which is called Wedding Photography Select and their website is http://www.weddingphotographyselect.co.uk.
Earlier in the year I met up with Jeremy and Beth and disused the possibility of photographing their wedding near Penzance, Cornwall in October. We sat down and flicked through several hundred of my pictures and discussed what they expected from their day and me and also what I could add. A few days later I received an email from them confirming me to be their wedding photographer.
This leads me nicely on to the topic for this blog… Pre Wedding Shoots or Engagement Shoots. Last Sunday I met up with Jeremy and Beth again and after having a chat about how the planning for their wedding day was coming on, we went down to one of their many local beaches at Marazion, just a couple miles from Penzance and just across the water from St Michael’s Mount heritage site.
Once at the beach I started taking a few pictures and it went from there. I will be sending the couple about 70 pictures from our 45 minutes on the beach and below is a small selection of what they will receive. Their are several crucial reasons why I insist on a pre wedding shoot but perhaps the most important is the ability to build a working relationship between myself and the couple… so that the awkward stuff is all drained away on the pre wedding shoot… insuring that on the wedding day, I am not a pressure and they are used to me being around and clicking away from a distance.
All the picture were shot on a 70-200 f/2.8 L and 50mm f/1.4 using a combination of Canon and Nikon cameras… Nikon? … Its another phase.
I also perform these style of location shoots for couples not getting married as well as for families big and small. Take a look at my portraits page and contact me to discuss possible locations.
Hope you like.
