My first wedding of 2013 took me on a short journey down the county to the costal town of Falmouth. As one of several wedding photographers who have photographed at Pendennis Castle and The Greenbank Hotel in Falmouth, Cornwall I was keen to try something different with both some pictures of the venue which can be seen on my Pendennis Castle page here, and also the wedding itself inside the Castle grounds. The wedding day at the beginning of January was fairly damp and wet for the most part but we were able to get outside for a few frames when leaving the Pendennis Castle for both some confetti and a few bride and groom portraits before heading to the Greenbank Hotel for the evening reception.
Shooting alongside Andy Green for this wedding, I spent the morning with the Groom and Bestman, so that we could provide both aspects of the morning story when both our pictures are put together in chronological order.
One of the great challenges about this wedding and the last wedding I shot at Buckland Tout-Saints in 2013, is the a availability of light, or rather the lack of light available inside the venue. The challenge is eased by good quality tools, providing they are used correctly and their limitations appreciated. Alongside cameras and lenses, shooting in dark conditions has a few key rules; stability, moving slowly and shooting wide. The first two are simple to control with practise and repetition, holding a camera correctly is one of the most underestimated parts of being a photographer and in doing so controls the stability and then moving slowly adds to this. Furthermore, shooting wide allows more light into the cameras sensor when dark conditions occur and whilst should be used alongside other techniques, it is another contributing factor.
Here is a selection of about 70 pictures from this Wedding in Falmouth, Cornwall. – Hope You Like.
