It’s hard to begin to find words that would justify this wedding day and the four day trip to Malcesine on Lake Garda. In fact, I don’t think it would be fair for me to try. I only hope that the pictures can. I arrived in Malcesine on a Saturday morning ahead of Fran and Sam’s Sunday wedding (after photographing a wedding in Cornwall, England on Friday), to find dark clouds in Verona and torrential rain all over Lake Garda. After being treated to a lovely sunny day in Cornwall a few hours previous and surviving on less than 3 hours sleep, things didn’t look too bright for the very outdoor itinerary for the following day. Yet everything changed when I met up with Sam & Fran an hour or two later for them to show me around Malcesine, we looked over the array of locations around Lake Garda on the wedding ‘train’ for the following day and as time passed the brolly went down and eventually, the coat came off.
I think its fair to say that these guys were blessed, a beautiful location on according to the locals the ‘best day for weeks’, couple that with a great group of guests and a beautiful bride and groom, it’s hard not to have an amazing day! and without a doubt, we all did.
It was my pleasure to be involved in their day(s), of celebrations and also catch up with some familiar faces from a wedding in Devon last year. As well as meet many new faces whom I hope to see again in the not too distant future.
However without any shadow of a doubt what made all this possible was the amazingly lovely Fran & Sam, and as someone put it (no names – Annabel !) ‘how could you not love this pair of nutters’. Whilst mentioning the wedding planner (and coordinator), Annabel, it should not pass to thank her and all of the team for providing such a well organised day, without it really feeling organised at all. As a wedding photographer you often end up performing some of the ‘on the day logistics’ and to be honest I love that side of things – but it was great to have the faith in Annabel and the team at Lake Garda Weddings to have it all sorted from the moment we said ‘hi’, allowing me to concentrate on documenting the day the best way I can.
Thank you to everyone involved. I hope these pictures as well as over 1,000 more to follow for Sam & Fran soon bring back the memories of the most fabulous wedding celebrations for many years and generations to come.

Bellissimo barney!
Thanks Jeremy. :)
wonderful work!!! :) you are great!
Hi Barney,
This will be a bit random and possibly something you won’t want to answer, but I stumbled across your portfolio of Fran & Sam’s wedding and was just wondering if you were able to share where their wedding reception for food was held? The pictures look amazing and I’m struggling to find a location in Lake Garda for our wedding.
We also absolutely love your photography style! I’ve noticed you will be travelling around, but is that how you base your work, or do you travel to specific destinations like Italy for jobs?
Thanks,
Gianni
Hi Gianni,
I have emailed you with full details, but the short answer is; La Voglia. :)
Hopefully here from you again soon.
Best, Barney.
