Torquay Wedding Photography in Devon can be a really positive experience, if you have the correct venue location and have ordered the correct weather. Having never photographed a wedding personally in Torquay before this, it was an experience to accompany photographer Andy Green at Harrera Images, to photograph this wedding in the Torquay area, at a beautiful and large church and then on to the The Imperial Hotel in Torquay. Living less than a hour away, turning off near South Brent, just north on the A38 from Plymouth, through Newton Abbot and Paignton, brings you to the tourist beach side of Torquay and its many hotels.
I have photographed Pre Shoots in Torquay before and made use of some beautiful evening light and the lovely long peer that stretches into the sea, as well as the towns beach ruining along the side of the town and leading up to the main trade area. However on this day in question the weather was far from in favour and rain, wind and drizzle were all on the forecast that we received. However having a good venue or even venues with the church as well, meant that the day all ran smoothly, with some great evening entrainment which got everyone up and laughing.. see my last blog picture.
The key thing was the amount of space available, on a not so good day, lack of space can become a problem, especially if their are a large number of quests… not just from a photography point of view… but if you can’t go outside it naturally brings people together in close proximity, which I think is a good thing. Guests are forced to engage in conversation and communication is then key, it makes the whole event of the wedding more personal. However their is perhaps a limit where people can be on top of each other searching for space. Im glad to report that this wedding in Torquay was a great wedding, helped by the fact that the hotel has several large open plan indoor spaces that the guests could use, even with two weddings on in the building at the same time.
Here are a small sample of some of my pictures shot at this wedding on a wet June day in Torquay. – BW
