A Wedding at Botallack in Cornwall

A Wedding at Botallack in Cornwall was the location for one of two of this past weekends weddings, the other being in North Devon near Barnstaple and Braunton. However this blog is about my Sunday wedding in Cornwall, on the cliffs of Botallack and in the lovely village of Trewellard, both just outside of St Just in the peninsula west of Penzance. It was a wet day, potentially the wettest wedding of the year for me, from a consistency point of view anyway. I was looking at the weather forecast some days before and really hoped for the couple it would change – but it didn’t. Thankfully the couple embraced the hand they were dealt, even the day before when we spoke, and then into the day itself the Bride took it in her stride and her up beat spirit for the most part was hard not to be infected by.

This weeding was my first full day experience of a Humanist wedding, where by the couple get ‘officially’ married the day before at a registry office, and then have their wedding events with the Humanist part the following day with all their wedding guests. The Humanist part is not officially recognised in the UK at the moment and therefore the registry part is still required legally.

Back to the events of the day… the couple met at the Bottallack Count House national trust site before their guests arrived and then had a service, followed by a lovely warm family evening at a local B&B Restaurant (The Field House). After we braved the weather in the name of photography of course!

I wish the couple all the best in their future and hope they enjoy their honeymoon both in Cornwall & in Greece. Below are a selection of some of my favourites alongside some general storytelling pictures – the couple have another 400+ when they return from Honeymoon. Hope you like. -BW
