Weddings in Redruth present opportunities to use such venues as; Little White Alice, in a fairly remote looking part of the Cornwall country side, a wedding venue where you can add the aspects you want. Also Penventon Park & Hotel is located near the heart of Redruth, large hotel, with swimming pool and spa to match. Other venues include Scorrier House and those venues located nearby Camborne, only 4 miles west of Redruth, making both towns facilities and venues ideally located to the other town, at the end of the day, Cornwall is not a big place, two hours driving end to end. Venues in Camborne include Rosewarne Manor and Lowena Hotel. Camborne does not particularly have the best reputation in Cornwall as a desirable place to live, but do check out its wedding venues and the surrounding area for possibilities. Just a few miles north towards the coast is Porthtowan between St Agnes & Portreath, here you will find the Blue Bar, a small beach side restaurant and cafe licensed for civil ceremonies.

With regards to location, Redruth & Camborne are both located in mid Cornwall, not too far from the capital, Truro. About an hours drive from each end of county between Bodmin and Helston. Both are just a short drive off the main A30 road that runs almost completely from East to West, joining the A38 at Bodmin if you are coming from east Devon.

“The towns of Camborne, Pool and Redruth together from one industrial conurbation of terraced houses and villas. This was once the centre of the late 18th century copper and tin mining boom and became the richest mining area in Cornwall. Many ruinous stacks and engine houses surround the towns. South Crofty, the last working mine, closed in 1998. The Camborne School of Mines, with its geological museum ad art gallery, is a renewed training centre for the mining industry. Illogan, nearby, was the birthplace in 1771 of Richard Trevithick inventor of the high pressure boiler used in Cornish steam engines and the first steam powered vehicle. His stature is outside the Camborne Museum in the Passmore Edwards Library, Corss Street and his home, Trewithick Cottage is owned by the National Trust in Penponds. William Murdock, inventor of gas lighting, with which he lit his home in 1792, lived in Murdock House, Cross Street, redruth. John Wesley, founder of the methodist movement preached in the natural amphitheatre of Gwennap Pit in 1762; there is a visitor centre, and the Museum of Cornish Methodism in the Methodist Chapel, Carharrack. Other attractions include the Cornish Mining Heritage Center and the National Trust Cornish Engines (two restored winding & pumping engines of the East Poll and Agar Mine) at Pool and The Mineral Tramways Discovery Center at Old Cowlin’s Mill, Penhallick with displays on the Mineral Tramways Trail. To the south is Carn Brea Hill Fort surmounted by the Basset Monument, erected in 1836 with extensive views, and The Shire Horse Farm and Carrage Museum in Treskillard.” – AZ
