Weddings on the Lands End Peninsula can be extremely attractive and dramatic. The dramatic feel is created by the vast scale of the sea and stone all around you, littered with history from throughout the ages, from stone monuments to tin mining remains. This area of Cornwall is truly breathtaking. From St Ives, west to Carn Naun Point and then South through Cape Cornwall, Lands End Itself and then east again to the small town of Mousehole is one big adventure, waiting to be explored. Opportunities for weddings range from cliff side hotels and golf courses, to National Trust sites and local family farms, houses and landowners of cliff tops and much much more. This area is almost a beautiful piece of canvas ready for you to use. South West of Penzance all main transport links stop and the only two main A roads in the area are the A30 and A3071, both are very windy and not made for the city driver, however the area is well worth the trip and for locals I need not say anymore.

“The south-west peninsula of Cornwall, known by the Cornish name Penwith, is a flat granite mass with dramatic cliff scenery. Land’s End is the most westerly point of mainland England- 1 mile directly to the west dan be seen Longships Lighthouse (built 1873), whilst Wolf Rock lighthouse is 9 miles south-west and 19 miles further are the Isles of Scilly, just visible on a clear day. Land’s End is home to a variety of attractions including the Curse of Skull Rock 4D, Air Sea Rescue, Doctor Who exhibition, The End to End Story, Coast, Greeb Farm, and the obligatory Lands End signpost. Sennen is the most western village, situated near the popular long sandy beach of Whitesand Bay, frequented by surfers. Inland, (Chapel) Carn Brea is owned by the National Trust and at 200m (657 ft) is the first and last hill in Engalnd, reputed to have the widest sea view visible from mainland in the British Isles.

At Porthcuno, is the Minack Open-Air Theatre (with the adding Rowena Cade Exhibition Centre), a cliff edge amphitheatre in classical Greek style utilising the sea and sky as a backcloth. Also here is the min landing station for trans-atlantic deep-sea cables, the Museum of Submarine Telegraphy and a white beach formed from ground sea shells. To the east at Treryn Dinas Cliff Castle is the Logan Rock, a finely balanced 65 ton rock which used to rock easily until dislodged in 1824 by a Lieutenant Goldsmith, who later had to pay for it to be repositioned. Further around the coast is Mousehole, an attractive Cornish fishing harbour.

The Land’s End peninsula abounds with prehistoric moments. Among the more notable are Boscawen-un Stone Circle near St Buryan, with its 19 stones the most famous bronze age circle in Cornwall, Merry Maidens Stone circle at Lamorna and Carn Euny Ancient Village at Sancreed. Lanyon Quoit, the hoop shapes Men-an-Tol, Men Scryfa Inscribed Stone and Nine Maidens Stone Circle are at Great Bosullow and the iron age Chysauster Ancient Village is near New Mill. Zennor and Sperris Quoits and near Zennor which also has St Sennara Church with its famous carved mermaid bench end.” – AZ
