Polhawn Fort in Cornwall | Wedding Photography

Polhawn Fort in Cornwall, is something of venue, I had photographed a wedding at Polhawn last year in December, however this time in late March, I was looking forward to a little more daylight hours, and the potential for a little more brightness in the images. For anyone who has been to Polhawn Fort near Torpoint, you will know what I mean when I say inside the main function room of the fort is fairly dark – which is no negative, in fact it creates an exciting atmosphere that coupled with some high ISO performance cameras allows for pictures full of character and emotion. The risk in shooting in such low lighting conditions is the ability to just use a speedlite flash, which with low ceilings and walls with so much detail, would just be wiped away by using flash! So keeping the flash in the bag, I am able to produce some much more natural pictures – its not easy – but with some decent gear on your side – your on your way.

The wedding itself was very child oriented, probably the most kids I have ever seen at a wedding, and you know what, it worked! The wedding was lifted, brought alive by all the kids which on the most part where fab! They were happy, joyful and thanks to some people in particular were kept under control :). Its always nice from a photographers point of view when something is a little different and exciting at a wedding – and here it was the kids – great fun to watch and try and photograph in this atmospheric Fort. Hope you like – a small selection of my pics from the groom and family in the morning until the kids having fun in the evening.
