A wedding planning day, normally the day before the wedding, is the time when I really focus in on the particular wedding, the day before all my attention is on the wedding the next day, its where I can listen and understand the couples plan for their big day and highlight anything I think they may have overlooked. From their plan we can then work out together where we will be able to find a couple small time gaps in the day to photograph the bride and groom alone together. However more than this the hour or two spent on planning makes the process the next day a lot easier for everyone, especially me, meaning I can just take great pictures without having to consider what is planned next or what angle Im going to shoot from or how I’m going to get from A to B, because its all taken care of the day before.
On top of all the logistically planning of the day, its simply another chance for me and the couple to communicate, get to know each other and to allow them to feel even more comfortable with me around, and now at the venue(s) they will actually be able to see my ideas of where and what we could do, while also getting their ideas and thoughts on my suggestions.
The bottom line of the planning day is to insure that on the Wedding Day all the couple need to do is enjoy it!
An empty church. On the wedding day. Lights out. Splash of flash. Looking directly at church window. – No accident, planning.
