North Devon Weddings near Barnstaple include this wedding I shot last week between Barnstaple and Lynton in North Devon on Exmoor. The wedding service itself took place in the small village of Ashton on the Braunton road from Barnstaple and after a family themed service the couple had their wonderful reception at the beautiful Woolhanger Manor in North Devon of Exmoor. It was my first time at Woolhanger, a fairly new and spectacular wedding venue that has the facilitates for catering for a whole wedding on site – providing you have ideas for accommodation in the local area – buses were arranged to and from Barnstaple for this particular wedding.
The bridal preparations also took place in the morning and Woolhanger manor, in two large cottages they have just meters from the main venue, lots of space, perhaps a bit modern for my liking if I’m being fussy, in comparison to the grandness of the venue itself, but the big bright windows and long corridor, which made for some nice bridal portraits went down very well. I let the morning just run for the most part, often shooting on a really wide lens and a really fast lens on another camera, using the combination to really give a feel and narrative to what is going on and then punctuated with a few details shots that everyone always loves to have, and a couple of portraits when desired.
The rest of the day panned out in a similar respect to the morning, the church was fairly small so I went with the option of just shooting some story telling frames from the back for the most part, a few more intimate pictures immediately after the service and then confetti in the church grounds. After leaving the church I stopped with the Bride & Groom for about 10 minutes in total to photograph them in a countryside field and then with their bridal car outside the front of the venue, after which I just left them to enjoy themselves for the rest of the day, implementing a documentary approach for the most part, as I so often do, and just punctuating with a couple portraits when and if required.
Hope you like the pics, I love the dancing ones in particular, the music room at Woolhanger just asks for wide pictures. Here are about 70 of my favourites, and pictures that tell the story of the day, the bride and groom will have another 500+ when they get back from Honeymoon.

Hi Barney,
Great photos of the wedding… they look fabulous! myself & husband Chris ( best man) love the one of our cheeky Charlie peering round the pew!. is there any possibility we can order a copy of the shot & maybe a couple of others to remind us of the special day. It is a wonderful photo of Charlie; you have really captured his personality in the shot! I await hearing from you.
Kind regards,
Karen
