Now, this is a funny story… I first met Claire & Rob when Claire was a bridesmaid at her friend’s wedding, which I was photographing in the heart of the Devon countryside. Not that funny? Wait… Claire proceeded to try and book me during the evening celebrations of that same wedding, because, of a move I pulled to get a candid photo earlier that day. For this particular frame I spotted an older gentleman play-fighting with a child, as I ran across a lovely looking lawn I dropped to my knees and slid across the lawn in front of them to press the shutter.
Apparently, that was enough to seal the deal. :D
We knew we had to hire Barney straightaway after meeting him at a friend’s wedding. I was a bridesmaid and lucky enough to see how professional and friendly Barney was throughout the morning preparations as well as see his organisation and happy demeanour during the day. The moment that really cinched it for us was when he took a sliding dive across the grass to get one of his signature candid shots! We asked him straightaway but, ever the professional, he recommended we take a look at his website and portfolio the next day and that he’d hear from us once we’d made a sober decision.
Barney’s sunny demeanour helped put everyone at ease and we were also lucky enough to work with his apprentice, Jordan, who made the day even more fun. We couldn’t recommend Barney highly enough. Thank you for everything Barney, we loved having you with us. – Claire & Rob
To this day I am not exactly sure what possessed me to pull such a move, it’s defiantly not an everyday occurrence, although most of my couples would confess to seeing me in weird positions and places to get ‘the shot’. :)
Anyhow, so Claire, after probably no less than 3 glasses of fizz, came up to be asking if I was free on their date in July next year, as it happened, I was… and, well, the rest is history.
Claire & Rob married at Lyde Court in Herefordshire, in what was a super fun outdoor themed day. I was particularly impressed with the local registrars who agreed to even hold most of the ceremony outside – Ace! Coupled with an outdoor reception and food on picnic benches. Followed by lawn games and not forgetting the legendary beer pong! It was superb fun to be a part of -trust me. :)
