If you have ever wished for a sunny English day for your celebrations, then I warn you that Nicky & Arne’s wedding near their home in Greenwich may provide you the opportunity to scream with excitement. Probably the sunniest, and definitely the hottest wedding I photographed in the UK during 2017. Nicky & Arne had a real treat later in the day when they were able to push back their evening celebrations (the advantages of planning a fluid day!) by over an hour so they were able to maximise and enjoy one of London’s most beautiful open spaces on the banks of the Thames, namely; The Old Royal Naval College during this blissful (but extremely hot!) summer’s day!
Their day started at Devonport House where Nicky prepared for the day ahead, whilst Arne had a fun morning with friends a short walk away on the banks of the River Thames. Being able to walk between all their venues in a short period of time throughout the day is a very refreshing experience and one which allows the use of a variety of locations (always amazing for photos!), but also the logistical ease for suppliers and guests alike.
After their indoor ceremony at Devonport House, confetti and a german tradition that involved cutting into a bed sheet in the gardens, their wedding day stepped up a gear upon arrival at the Old Royal Naval College which hosted the rest of the celebrations and a magical evening of outdoor beer drinking, indoor partying and a sunset looking across the Thames.
Many thanks to second shooter Lorenzo for documenting the majority of the morning with Arne and his mates, and furthermore assisting me throughout a burning hot day, albeit I think Lorenzo, with his Italian blood, suffered much less than me! :)
