After a busy weekend of weddings I had the pleasure of meeting the Crouch family for a portrait shoot in their home. The shoot was for some family portraits of the couple with the recent addition to their family home in Cornwall. Photographing small children is always a bit of a challenge, however, by using the correct equipment and an outgoing yet distant persona is what I have found makes the right mix.
I used by 70-200 2.8 for the majority of the shoot, which is a zoom lens for those of you who are less technically minded. This allows me to put distance between myself and the little one towards the beginning of the shoot, at least until they get used to me being around. In some cases I will approach older people in this way as well, ultimately it is more relaxing and allows for a more natural outcome.
The family have now seen the pictures and I have picked a couple shots to display here for you to see. I offer these shoots starting at £25 which includes over 50 low resolution pictures for you to start sharing straight away. If you want more information about my home portrait shoots then send me a quick email at barneywalters@btconnect.com. You can also visit my website at www.barneywaltersphotography.co.uk. I currently operate out of North East Cornwall, so people living near this area will incur no extra travel charge. However I also regularly travel throughout Cornwall & Devon, so it is likely we can come to some arrangement.
As always you can keep up to date on this blog by entering your email address on the right hand side of the page where indicated. I don’t post any more regularly last twice a week, so you wont be getting ‘spammed’.
I hope you like the pictures and look forward to doing some more portrait shoots out of the studio, like this one, in the near future.

Beautiful family portrait. Photographing kids is also a challenge to me…I call it, ‘hunting cuteness’. Great shots! :)
Thanks Kristen – digger through the achieves I see, long time ago I think this was. Its always nice trying to get on the inside though. Hunting Cuteness seems like a good motto. :)
Thanks Christina.
