Some of you may know that towards the end of last year I travelled to Australia to photograph a wedding and have a bit of a holiday. I still have the wedding to edit and share with you but in the mean time I would like to share a few frames from my personal adventures before the wedding itself. After landing in Brisbane I travelled north to spend a week on the well known tourist destination of Fraser Island Queensland, Australia, it was here, during the first week of my trip that the pictures below were shot.
It was pleasant for a change just to shoot a few pictures for me and instead of working to a brief to simply shoot what I wanted and create a few personal memories of my trip to this truly remote and beautiful part of the world. Below are a couple pictures of the well know Maheno ship wreck around half way along the eastern 75 mile beach on Fraser Island.
The following pictures were shot on a fairly rough day on the eastern beach at around mid tide when the water level was just covering the back of the ship and with some fast shutter speeds I was able to freeze some of the waves crashing against the ship wreck. Unlike with much of my wedding and portrait photography that gets processed to simulate a particularly film or lit to add drama, these pictures have been edited very simply in Photoshop, a little contrast and thats about it. In honesty these simple edits could of been made in software such as iPhoto – not everything in photography has to be complicated.

Hope you like. – BW
