Engagement Wedding Photography in Cornwall or Devon often makes me think of one thing, Beaches! Its often my thought process to mould a pre shoot around a beach, the open space and especially the lack of people during the colder months of the year. Another good ideal location for Pre Shoots is the actual wedding venue the couple are using. Last weekend we had the best of both worlds by starting off shooting at and in the grounds of Tregenna Castle, St Ives, and then travelling just 5 minutes down the road to Carbis Bay Beach, just around the corner from St Ives.
The thing I got taught and have since learnt myself about shooting on beaches is that Sand & Salt Water are probably the two biggest enemies to camera gear, except maybe a drop from 3 or more stories. I was telling a few tales to the groom, and found out that one of his experiences shooting on a beach defiantly was worse than mine. While chatting and shooting on the beach at Carbis Bay, I did not follow my own rules and subsequently left my iPhone in a pocket without a zip. Its was 2 hours before I was finally reunited with it, many thanks to the couple, few locals and ‘Fine My iPhone’ who helped me finally relocate it. Not my most proud moment – but we did get some good pics!
So here is a small selection from over 80 pictures the couple will have this week and use for their wedding in December. Hope you like :) – BW
