Caroline + James – London, UK

After this wedding pre-shoot in London’s Regents Park, Caroline & James later married at Cooling Castle in Rochester, about an hour East of central London. Getting matured in mid September, meant that our pre-wedding engagement shoot was going to fall in the summer months – meeting up about 2 months before their wedding date is always a great time to meet/chat/drink coffee, and shoot a few pictures of them to put their minds at ease. The wedding’s not so far away that we can’t talk specifics, and is not so close that things we discuss can’t be implemented in time. :)

For those whom don’t know London so well; Regent’s Park is one of the Royal Parks of London. It lies within north-west London, partly in the City of Westminster and partly in the London Borough of Camden. It contains Regent’s University London and the London Zoo. Staying to the South of park away from the crowds, we visited the park in the early afternoon for about 30 minutes and whilst having a chat and walking about after coffee we documented the moments here.

Shivani + Andy – London, UK

I first met Shivani and Andy a couple weeks before this pre-shoot. They had been recommend to me earlier in the year by friend of theirs that were by then set to be married just a matter of weeks before Shivani and Andy’s own Wedding celebrations in November. It’s always such a treat to have more time to get to know people in advance of their wedding, and whilst we only had chance for a 10 minute conversation at their friends wedding in the North of England – it was a enough for the introductions so we could get straight into wedding scheming and walking around on Richmond Hill for their pre wedding shoot (as below) when we met up in October.

Richmond Hill turned out to be a great place to meet up and shoot some pictures, a new find of open space in West London for me, a subtle change to Richmond Park next door – a frequent and favourite meeting spot of mine.

Shivani and Andy were married a couple weeks later in Richmond, before having their wedding celebrations, complete with a Hindu ceremony at Northrbook Park in Surrey – where, at the time of writing – I have just returned from.

This pair really didn’t need a pre-wedding photo shoot to “relax” them in-front of the camera, but even still it’s such a great way to put their minds at ease about any misconceptions about what “wedding photography” might be like. Whilst more importantly simple spending some time getting to know me, and I them. Time that is always rewarding when it comes to the wedding day – with a greater understanding, relationship and development of trust – great picture opportunities and situations unfold much more frequently. Time well spent!

Chapel Porth Cornwall Wedding Engagement Photography

Victoria + Paddy – Cornwall, UK

Victoria and Paddy recently moved down to Cornwall from London, where they had spent much of their post-university lives together. So, me, being the local, probably should have known anywhere they could have possibly wanted to go for their pre-wedding photos. However, Chapel Porth near Truro was a new one for me, but I am very glad they took me there for an explore around the cove.

After meeting at Chiverton Cross for a coffee and a chat about their upcoming Cornwall Wedding celebrations, which are being held in Cornwall too! We then spent 10 minutes in the car driving down to Chapel Porth. Initially, it was a little sad to see it drizzling and the high tide in the cove. However, it was soon clear that this presented a great opportunity to go walking up onto the headland overlooking Chapel Porth and the English Channel.

Growing up in Cornwall, it’s sometimes easy to take the natural beauty for granted. Yet walking around and seeing Cornwall in it’s murky (but somehow spellbinding self) was a breath of fresh air that I needed in a year that has seen me spend more time outside of the UK (and Cornwall) than within. It’s good to get away, but it’s certainly always rewarding and refreshing going home.

Here are a few pictures of our brief walk around the headland and of Victoria and Paddy ahead of their Cornwall Wedding celebrations, which I am sure will also be up on the blog in the not too distant future. :)

More Cornwall Wedding Photography?

Claudia + Nick – Andalusia, Spain

Claudia & Nick are getting married in Spain at ‘Villa Padierna’, followed by a reception at ‘Babilonia Olivia Valère’, later this year. I am thrilled to be their Marbella Wedding Photographer later this year. :)

Ahead of their celebrations we first met in London, followed by some time spent together one evening in Marbella for these sunset pictures. I always say that meeting, getting to know one another, and shooting a few pictures together, is so much more about the wedding day itself, rather than the pictures taken on the evening. That’s still true here. However, it was obvious because we had so much time to explore together, that this pre-wedding shoot was always going to end up here and an example of what a little faith can result with. ;)

The latter point above is a hint at the details of the locations I decided to use for this time together, that instead of heading to the beach or some lovely villa, we ended up in two lay-by’s by the side of the Ronda road above Marbella. Whilst I knew what we would be able to achieve, it was perhaps not so obvious to Claudia & Nick, especially when I introduced the idea of a smelly lay-by on a hairpin bend. :)

A little faith required, that I am sure you will agree paid off. Most importantly, some confidence installed before the wedding day, which is another added bonus of the time spent together. :)

Next up, their Marbella Wedding Celebrations in a couple months time! Whoop!

Liz + Neil – Costa del Sol, Spain

48 hours before they said their ‘I Do’s’ I had the chance to catch up with Liz & Neil in a place that is increasingly becoming a bigger part of my life: Marbella, Spain.

After some tapas and a Cerveza, or two, we set off for a little walk towards Puerto Banus to shoot some pictures along the Golden Mile between Marbella & Banus. Below are a few of my favourites of our stroll along the waterfront as the sun set behind the hills of Andalusia.

Kate + Dan – Bristol, UK

What a blast I had with this pair a few weeks ago just a short walk from their Bristol home. I had first met Kate as a bridesmaid at her friends wedding I was shooting in Cornwall 2 years earlier. Not long after that, her own engagement was announced and after a splendid chat on Skype with Kate and fiancée Dan, everything was set for me to be involved with their own wedding celebrations.

Fast forward 16 months and it was time to meet up with Kate & Dan a few weeks ahead of their celebrations in Wiltshire. We met up at their Bristol home and they took me for a walk around a local green space, not far from the Bristol suspension bridge, where we were blessed with some lovely sunshine as your’ll see below. All-be-it with a little hay fever aggravation for myself.

Really looking forward to their celebrations in just a couple weeks time! :)
