Cadhay house is an impressive building situated near Honiton in the countryside at the end of a beautifully straight and long driveway. The house and surrounding building have a great mix of old and new, with the large manor house reflected the old and traditional along with some converted barns that are very modern inside and represent open plan downstairs living areas. Cadhay house also has a selection of impressive gardens with various flowers, ponds, hedges and one particularly impressive tree.
Cadhay is only 10 minutes from the motorway yet is almost in the middle of nowhere near Ottery-st-Mary in Devon. The wedding venue offers many options such as full on site weddings with accommodation, DIY garden weddings, off site marriages and then using the site as a reception venue or as I recently heard, hire the place for the whole weekend! Do be aware though that during the week the house is open to the public.
From a photographic point of view weddings at Cadhay House present opportunities that look well photographed in my style, the mix of modern and traditional and outside space and interior angles creates a nice mix for wedding photography.
‘Cadhay is a very special wedding venue. It especially suits those who are looking for somewhere atmospheric and individual to extend their wedding celebrations over a longer period of time than just the single day. Here you can occupy the entire property for a long weekend or a full week or more, extending your celebrations to create a lasting and unforgettable house party for your family and best friends. Cadhay provides a magnificent and calm setting to enjoy this most important moment in life reflectively, even once the main ceremony and party have finished. A stay at Cadhay allows you and your guests the exclusive and private use of the house and its magnificent gardens, thus allowing you to create a wedding that is unique for you. It is a bit like getting married in your own home – albeit an Elizabethan manor!’ – http://www.cadhay.org.uk/weddingsoccasions.html
