As I finally put pen to paper or rather letters on a screen, it’s already 2017. What an incredible year 2016 has been, my 7th year in the wedding industry and adding another 41 weddings to a total nearing 250!
Numbers aside, as I am sure to come to that shortly, I feel I should start out by saying an incredible Thankyou once again to the amazing people that make my life and my ‘job’ a true pleasure to be involved in, week in and week out… Thank You! Many of you are featured in this blog post, but with an aim of keeping the number down to 100 frames (which ended up being 120+), I may not have included you all, never the less, you know who you are, and Thank You!
Writing this in early January 2017, I am both dumbfounded by how quickly the year has come to a close and with every day that passes, getting more excited about what 2017 has in store for us and the opportunities it will inevitably create.
Firstly though, I am very much hoping that the next couple of weeks will move slow enough to allow time to fully reflect, have some downtime, brainstorm and set some lofty goals for 2017.
Huge shout out to my ever patient and calm better half, Poppy, whom this year has moved into the ‘background’ of the business full-time freeing up some of my time to focus on pushing things forward instead of being stuck treading water (especially during the summer and autumn months). Also, a mention must go to my associate photographer, Jordan, whom after 2 years, deserves a public mention for working hard both shooting at weddings and helping me out more generally throughout 2016. (and much of 2015).
With everyone’s help and support, I have been included for the 3rd year running in the 2017 regional finalists of The Wedding Industry Awards as ‘Best Photographer’.
As well as another great year of documenting wedding celebrations across 7 countries, I have also managed to rack up what should probably be described as a ‘ridiculous’ amount of flights, some 65 in total. Thankfully only a dozen of those long-haul, but short-haul flying has become something of an expert, and in that vein, Travel Geeks was born. <<< a little plug. ;)
If you have stayed with me this far, then you’ll probably understand that my writing ability is terrible when compared to my photography, so with that in mind I will leave you with 124 of my favourite frames from 2016… wishing you all the best with 2017 and beyond!
